Curtis Maynard spends hours using fine eye surgery tools and huge magnifying gasses to transform these gorgeous feathers into art. Each design is intended to highlight the most attractive elements of each feather, focusing on form, pattern and colour, in an attempt to relay the essence of the bird that grew them. I admire his patience and incredible skill with such intricate work.

Check out his website to learn more about his technique and see his astoundingly beautiful featherfolio.

0ff6327ca307714389e1a46d265c0e78Nikola Radovic is a concept artist and illustrator who’s recently graduated from the Academy of Fine Art in Zagreb, Croatia, focusing mainly on animation and new media. Works currently include acting as Lead Animator on “Flower of Battle” by Simon B. Narath in 2010 and in a DIEDRA studio short titled “MalleusDei” by Dino Krpan in 2011. I’m loving the atmospheric tense of Radovic’s style – dark and sombre subjects and landscapes that appear almost apocalyptic using beautiful textural washes of colour that lend a deep painterly quality. The character development is also pretty awesome – it would be very cool to see this kind of work introduced into the sphere of video games.

To view more work, check out Radovic’s portfolio.

You can also buy prints at Society6.

octi_pack_by_loish-1Dutch artist Lois Van Baarle, aka Loish, has been drawing since as far back as she can remember. In 2003 she started teaching herself to work in the digital world and has grown into an incredibly talented illustrator and animator. Having had a chance to live in different parts of the world throughout her life (including France, the U.S., Indonesia and Belgium), she’s incorporated a myriad of influences into her work, and continues to evolve at breakneck speed. Currently back in the Netherlands, she continues to work as a freelance illustrator and animator in Utrecht, often collaborating with other wonderfully talented artists.

See more of her work on her gorgeous website.

Prints of her work are now also available on Society 6.
